Is 2019 the year education looks at educating itself on the future?
On the eve of 2019, I write this OP-ED to create a sense of awareness and urgency. It is time for education and the school system to respond to our changing world, and like the dripping faucet, proven solutions exist. It is the effort to execute on them that will make the change real.
Experience leads to Gratitude
Take children to Farmers’ Markets, to bakeries, to butchers and the harvest season is a great time to do this.
The Long Haul
Watching them struggle or fail is hard when we so quickly can solve the problem for them. Rush in and tie their shoes, complete the project, or schedule their time.
